Spelling Guide for Parents

    Every Monday your child will bring home a list of spelling words that he or she will need to study during the week. There will be a final test given to the students on Friday. All words on weekly lists will follow a common spelling pattern or rule.
    It is recommended that each parent or guardian give a practice test to their student at home as a way to prepare them for the final test in class on Friday. Any words that your child spells wrong on the practice test should be rewritten three times on the back of the practice test and returned to school on Friday morning (the day of the final test in class). The at-home practice test can be given at any time during the week. I will post a practice test template on our classroom website so that you can print a practice test if you would like to give it to your child more than one time during his or her week of studying.
    In addition to giving the practice test, you can also encourage your child to do additional activities that require students to practice spelling the words on their weekly list.
