My Home Page What's going on in Gym Class?
Exercise, Improvement, Sportsmanship, Compassion!

 

  Mr. Morgan: Instructor for grades PreK-8th 

Description of courses:

PreK-1st:

  • Gross Motor Development (Skipping, Galloping, Hopping, Running etc.).
  • Activities that involve Spatial Awareness (General space, Self Space).
  • Basic Introduction to: Ball Handling Skills (throwing, catching, dribbling, target throws, and kicking).
  • Cooperative activities that stress working together either with partners or teams.

Second Grade:

  • More emphasis on Team Play  (working together while demonstrating Good Sportsmanship).
  • increased focus on the acquisition of throwing, dribbling, and catching skills.
  • Spacial Awareness, especially General Space.

Grades 3-5

  • Skill Development which will consist of 3 crucial skills found in sports such as: Hockey, Football, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, etc.
  • Team Play with the following: cooperation with fellow classmates and teacher, sportsmanship at all times.
  • Compassion for those who may not share the same abilities as we do!

Grades 6-8

  • More of an emphasis is placed on Team PLay than on skill acquisition.
  • Discussion of body image and ways to sustain or improve body composition are reinforced.
  • Decision Making during game-like activities also become more of a focus.
  • Conditioning and or stretching are discussed and implemented when appropriate.
