 Line 2: Write two adjectives describing the noun on  Line 1;
 Line 3: Write 3 words ending with -ing (action words)  that describe what the noun on Line 1 might do;
 Line 4: Write a phrase describing the noun  on Line 1; and
 Line 5: Write a synonym of the word on Line 1.

Example: "My Wonderful Valentine"

               Mother
            kind, helpful
     caring, loving, sharing
 - a special person in my life
                 friend

Make cards for each letter and let a child hold the letter.  Write the sentence on the back for the child to say.  They stand in line to say their poem to others.

 T IS FOR TURKEY ON THANKSGIVING DAY
 H IS FOR HURRY WE'RE HUNGRY WE SAY
 A IS FOR AUNTIE SHE WORKS AND SHE MENDS
 N IS FOR NATIVE AMERICAN FRIENDS

Give your students a piece and paper and have them fold hotdog style.  Then cut upward through one layer.  Write a clue on the outside.  Inside the flap write the double rhyming words.
Example:  (outside) a wet dog  (inside)  soggy doggy
               (outside) a tired flower    (inside)  lazy daisy

Students select a color and write the following poem using their color.
