Saturday October 18th - 5K Run for Kids: More info coming

Running club will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 8:00am-9:00am.

Before kids are released to go to school they will have the opportunity to change in the locker rooms into dry clothes.

The first day of running club will be fairly easy.  As we get further into the season, the training will become more difficult.  In order to have proper training for the lengths of the races Along with being lots of fun, Running Club will require a bit of hard work and determination.

All runners should bring the following packed into a running bag.

Running Sneakers (extra pair as it will be damp)

Extra Socks – It will be very uncomfortable to wear wet socks for the rest of the day.

Extra Underwear – even worse than wet socks (locker rooms are always available for use)

Change of clothes for school

Food – Healthy snacks, PB & J sandwich, granola bars.  Kids will be burning many many calories during training.  They will need to replace them.  I will let the teachers now that kids in running club may need to have snacks during class as it is vital to their training.

Gatorade/Water – NOT POWERADE. When training for distance, Gatorade has proven to be a greater source of fluid replenishment than water.  Powerade is not the same.  It contains citric acid – this can cause an upset stomach when consumed after intense training.  Juice is too thick and also contains citric acid.  Soda – can actually make it harder for you to train (phosphoric acid in cola)

Hand Towel – For sweaty heads and if kids want to splash water on their face.

Watch with stopwatch – Not required but will help with training.

Good Luck !!!
