Kids of Character and Boy's Town Social Skills at Sunset Elementary School! Boy's Town Social Skills (BTSS) is a series of skills taught to help student interact in positive ways with other people. Kids of Character takes BTSS a step farther. BTSS teaches the social skills expected in society whereas Kids of Character expects students to use those skills to be productive members of our community. Kids of character uses 6 pillars which are respect, responsibility, Fairness, Caring, Trustworthy and Citizenship. Respect Is polite, courteous, and respectful. Listens actively. Talks at appropriate times. Responsibility Exhibits self-control. Cares for school and personal property. Completes and returns assignments on time. Uses organizational skills. Works independently. Follows written and oral directions. Fairness Demonstrates fair play, shares, and takes turns. Listens to others' points of view Caring Is helpful and shows kindness with words and actions. Thinks about other people's feelings and needs. Trustworthy Is reliable. Has materials needed for class. Citizenship Cooperates with others. Obeys classroom and school rules. Participates actively.
