Accelerated Reader!

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a reading program designed to allow students to assist in their reading improvement.  Students and teachers set goals and due dates.  Students read AR books within their reading range.  The reading range is determined by teacher observations and reading tests, including  STAReader.  The reading range is the middle range of what the student can read.  This is where the student can read comfortably with a bit of challenge.  It is not his/her top reading level.  After a book is read, the student takes a test (AR) to earn points.  He/she can turn the points in to buy prizes.  The Sunset TAP provides many awesome prizes!  Thank you Sunset TAP!

We have a huge number of tests this year!  The district has subscribed to all available AR tests.

Find Accelerated Reader Books and Create Book Lists using AR  Bookfinder! 

AR Bookfinder is site from Renaissance Place that contains a list of books that have AR quizzes.  Sunset has access to these quizzes. You can search for book titles based on authors, topics, or titles of books. You will then be able to sort your search results, select book titles to add to your AR BookBag, print a list of your search results, or start a new search.  Check out the Advanced Search and the Collections search. The Advanced Search tab allows you to enter more search criteria such as book level (reading range), interest level, topics, fiction/nonfiction, and language to get results that tailored for you. In the collections search you can view three different types of book collections including Awards, State Lists, and Librarians’ Picks. You can add books from any of these lists to your AR BookBag to create your own book list. This list can be printed and taken to the library or bookstore.

Remember this site is a list of AR book titles.  It is not a bookstore.  You cannot buy anything from this site.

Not all of the quizzes are activated at Sunset.  Most of the lower grade and middle grade books are activated.
