Journalism/Publications I~The Coronado Roar~The Coronado Prowl~American Literature
I've been teaching for 18 years and have been at Coronado since it opened in 2001. I feel very lucky to do what I do even if I do have a REALLY hectic schedule. I am responsible for teaching students the beginning elements of newpaper and yearbook in my Journalism/Publications I class. From here, successful students may choose to become a staff member on either The Coronado Roar or The Coronado Prowl depending on their strengths. The Coronado Roar, the school newspaper, has been selected three times by the Review Journal as the third best paper in the Clark County School District. I was recognized as Journalism Adviser of the Year by CLASS! magazine in 2005. The staff of The Roar produces six papers a year for a student body of over 3100. If you are interested in advertising, please call 799-6800 ext. 4076 for more information. The Coronado Prowl, the school yearbook, is a leather-bound, full color book of more than 300 pages. It covers student activities, all sports and clubs, and the student body (for those who elect to get their photos taken). It is literally a time capsule of a student's year here at CHS. The opening price of the book is $75, but it will go to $85 in Feb. and then to $100 once it arrives at the school in May. To purchase a senior ad in this year's book or for ordering information, please call 799-6800 ext. 4076. In addition to the above classes, I am also fortunate to teach American Literature which is my passion. This class combines both reading and writing to help nurture a balance in my students. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach me at 799-6800 ext. 4076 or email me at nlt573@interact.ccsd.net. I respond much more quickly to emails than phone calls.
