Starfish of the Week A student will be chosen and recognized each Friday at Morning Meeting as our Starfish of the Week. Dr. Krieger will read out the names of the Starfish of the Week. At the end of the day, that student will be able to attend a popsicle party and receive their certificate. In addition, our Starfish will be celebrated in the classroom in the following ways: *Monday: Sharing Sack: A small bag has been sent home with your child. Please help her choose two or three items to bring to school. The items should represent something to help give the class a little information about your child. Also, please help your child to choose six photos to bring to class. The pictures will be hung on the Starfish bulletin board. This will help the students and me to get to know your family. The photos will be returned. *Tuesday: Parent Letter: Parents, you will write a letter to the class telling us how special your child is to you. Send the letter in a sealed envelope to school with your child, and I will read the letter to the students at our class meeting. The content of the letter is up to you, but you may want to choose from one of the following ideas: describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear, write a silly or serious poem about your child, tell us some neat things we may not know about your child, send silly or special pictures with a letter describing the pictures, or write a short story with your child as the main character. *Wednesday: Favorite Book: Your star student brings one of his or her favorite picture books to share at our class meeting (around 9:15 a.m.). A friend or family member may join us to read the book to the class. If someone is not able to attend, I will read the book. *Thursday Star of the Day Your child will be given special privileges for the day. They can choose to sit at my desk for the day, sit with a friend, wear a special crown, etc. They get to be a very special helper of the day. Friday: Star Friends: Your star student will be presented with a FISH poster. The students will create a poster for your child to take home that shows how he/he follows the fish philosophy.
